The head coach of Egypt, Hossam Hassan, has already started celebrating the team’s imminent qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Pharaohs are favourites to secure the automatic qualification in Group A following a 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso on Tuesday evening.

The result keeps Egypt at the top of the group table with 20 points, five more than Burkina Faso in second.

Knowing that a win in any of the two remaining matches of the qualifiers will get the job done for Egypt, Coach Hossam Hassan jubilated after the draw with Burkina Faso, insisting that it is a good day for the Egyptian people.

“It’s a great day for the Egyptian people… I would like to thank every player for their efforts against a tough team that has players in the Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1,” the coach said in an interview with On Sport channel.

Hossam Hassan added, “Despite playing in Burkina Faso, we played positively and created big chances. At the same time, we maintained balance. We could have scored one or two goals before the end.

“My goal was to coach the Egyptian national team. I have always dreamed of that. I want to fulfil the fans’ dream and live up to their trust.”

Next up for Egypt, the Pharaohs will play against Djibouti and Guinea-Bissau in the October international break.
