2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Morocco defeat Zambia 2-0 to maintain unbeaten run

Morocco showed no mercy on Monday afternoon when they faced off with Zambia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Although the Atlas Lions have already qualified for next year’s World Cup, they outplayed the opponent to cruise to a 2-0 victory at the end of the contest.

In a game played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Morocco started on a good note, scoring after just seven minutes through experienced and lethal striker Youssef En Nesyri.

That goal separated the two national teams at halftime before Hamza Igamane struck in the 47th minute to seal a 2-0 win for Morocco.

The win means Morocco is seven matches unbeaten in the World Cup qualifiers. Zambia sits third in the Group E table, behind Tanzania in second with 10 points.

Meanwhile, Tunisia have also booked qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 1-0 win against Equatorial Guinea on Monday.

The win means Tunisia have now qualified for their seventh FIFA World Cup and their third consecutive appearance.

The feat sees the North Africans cementing their reputation as one of Africa’s most consistent performers in the qualifiers.

African giants Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria, and Senegal are all fighting to book a qualification to the World Cup.
