Zamalek set to unveil new coach in the coming days following Osorio’s departure

282

Zamalek’s board, led by Chairman Hussein Labib, is poised to reveal the identity of the new foreign coach who will take the reins from Juan Carlos Osorio.

The decision comes in the aftermath of Osorio’s departure due to unsatisfactory results.

Currently, Zamalek’s management is carefully reviewing the distinguished profiles of several foreign coaches.

Among the notable contenders are German coach Franko Voda and Dutch coach John van den Brom.

The final decision regarding the new coach is expected to be conclusively settled and announced within the next few days.

Zamalek’s management deems it imperative for the new foreign coach to seamlessly integrate into the team mid-season, considering the club’s participation in crucial tournaments in the upcoming period.

Zamalek is actively competing for the CAF Confederation Cup, currently topping their group and officially qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Additionally, the team anticipates a highly anticipated clash against Al Ahly in the Egyptian Cup final scheduled for March.

Besides these, there are other significant domestic competitions, including the Egyptian Premier League.

This necessitates the prompt recruitment of a new foreign head coach in the imminent days.

Zamalek’s coach, Moataz Jamal, affirmed his commitment to the club’s directives, expressing readiness to continue in his role as the primary coach or collaborate with a new foreign coach as an Egyptian assistant and secondary figure in the coaching staff.

Moataz Jamal has overseen Zamalek in seven matches so far, spanning across various competitions, including African tournaments, domestic leagues, and the Egyptian Cup.

The team achieved victory in five matches, drew in one, and suffered a defeat in a league match against El Masry with a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

Speaking of Moataz Jamal, the coach addressed the psychological aspects of players who were excluded from the national team preparing for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Prominent figures such as goalkeeper Mohamed Awad, who showcased exceptional performances locally and continentally, and Nabil Emad Donga, a pivotal midfielder for Zamalek, were among those omitted.

Jamal encouraged both players to maintain their dedication and deliver outstanding performances in Zamalek’s upcoming matches, be it friendlies in the UAE, the Egyptian Cup, CAF competitions, or the league.

The aim is to secure their return to national team call-ups in subsequent camps after the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations.
