The head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Eric Chelle, has cautioned his players against underrating Rwanda ahead of their clash in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria will battle Rwanda on Saturday, September 6, in Uyo in Round 7 of the qualifiers for next year’s World Cup.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Coach Eric Chelle described the opponent as a good side, insisting that his team must stay focused to secure victory.

“Rwanda is a good team with a good coach. We can’t underrate them. We have our plan on how to stop them.

“I want my players to focus only on this game, and not the next game against South Africa. We must also not think about the World Cup at the moment.

“The focus for us is to take it one game at a time, and not overthink things,” Coach Eric Chelle said.

Nigeria endured a slow start to the qualifiers and currently sits fourth in their group, behind Benin, Rwanda, and South Africa.

A win on Saturday, September 6, would significantly improve their chances, though the Super Eagles still face a difficult path to secure a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
