Franco-Cameroonian forward Hugo Ekitike shortlisted for Player of the Month for August

France international of Cameroonian descent Hugo Ekitike has been shortlisted for the Player of the Month award for August following an explosive debut at Liverpool.

The 23-year-old, who recently earned a call up to represent France produced an outstanding performance for Liverpool last month. Ekitike scored two goals and provided an assists in three appearances for the Reds.

His top-class performance did not go unnoticed, earning him a nomination for the top. He joins his teammate Dominik Szoboszlai and six other players from other clubs in a fierce battle for the award.

Ekitike faces a stern competition from Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Liverpool teammate Dominik Szoboszlai, and Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace.

Other players competing for the top award include, Chelsea forward Joao Pedro, Jack Grealish of Everton and Ricardo Calafiori, who plies his trade for Arsenal.

The forward is currently with the France national for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month.
