Algerian midfielder Akram Bouras completes move to Levski Sofia on three-year deal

Algerian midfielder Akram Bouras has completed a permanent move to Bulgarian side Levski Sofia, signing a three-year contract that runs until 2028.

The 23-year-old, who will wear the number 47 shirt, leaves his homeland after winning four domestic league titles with CR Belouizdad and MC Alger.

His transfer marks the beginning of his first experience in European football.

Levski, one of Bulgaria’s most decorated clubs with 26 league championships, has been seeking to rebuild its dominance after going 16 years without a national title.

Despite finishing second in the domestic league last season, the Sofia-based side fell short in Europe, exiting both the Europa League play-offs and the Conference League following elimination by Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.

Bouras arrives as part of the club’s efforts to strengthen the squad and push for silverware.

His versatility and midfield presence were key factors in CRB and MCA’s successes, and Levski are counting on his experience to bolster their campaign.

The deal is reported to have cost Levski around €350,000, significantly below Bouras’s estimated market value of €800,000.

His recent injury, which ruled him out of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), is believed to have influenced the negotiations and lowered the final fee.

Akram Bouras is a player with strong technical qualities and the mentality to succeed. We believe he will adapt quickly and contribute to our ambitions, a Levski official was quoted as saying following the announcement.

For Bouras, the move represents both a challenge and an opportunity to establish himself in European football.

The Algerian international has already shown resilience in overcoming setbacks and will now aim to prove his worth on a new stage.

Levski’s supporters, known for their passionate backing, are expected to welcome the midfielder as he joins a squad determined to end the club’s long wait for a league title.

Bouras’s arrival underlines Levski’s determination to restore past glory and signals their intent ahead of another competitive campaign at home and abroad.
