Bradley Barcola scores hat-trick as Liverpool beat LASK
Bradley Barcola announced himself at Liverpool in emphatic style, scoring a hat-trick in the Reds’ 6-3 Champions League win over LASK in Linz on Wednesday.
The France international opened his account for the club with a composed finish from Lewis Koumas’ pass, added a second from Florian Wirtz’s assist and completed his treble after Jeremie Frimpong’s low cross.
Barcola becomes the 13th Liverpool player to score a hat-trick in the European Cup or Champions League. He follows names such as Graeme Souness, Terry McDermott, Ian Rush, Michael Owen, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz.
Liverpool’s first two European hat-tricks came on the same night in October 1980, when Souness and McDermott each scored three in a 10-1 win over Oulu Palloseura. Souness repeated the feat against CSKA Sofia later that season.
More recently, Diogo Jota scored three at Atalanta in 2020, Salah did so against Rangers in 2022, and Diaz hit a treble against Bayer Leverkusen in November 2024.
Barcola’s display now places him among an exclusive group of Liverpool forwards. His hat-trick was also his first competitive goals for the club, making the night even more memorable.
