West Ham United have approached Nottingham Forest over a potential deal for Ivorian international Ibrahim Sangaré as they look to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who only joined Forest from PSV Eindhoven in 2023, has impressed in his early appearances this season but could now become the subject of a late move.

According to reports cited by the New York Times, the Hammers are keen to bring him to the London Stadium in an attempt to turn around their poor start to the Premier League campaign.

While Forest have managed a steady opening to their season, West Ham’s situation has been less encouraging, with two consecutive defeats leaving the club under pressure.

The prospect of adding Sangaré is seen as a way to inject physicality, control, and stability into their midfield, areas where the side has been lacking in recent weeks.

Initial indications suggest West Ham’s proposal involves a loan agreement rather than an immediate permanent transfer.

This arrangement would allow the London side to reinforce their midfield options without committing substantial funds upfront, while also giving Sangaré the opportunity to reassert himself in the Premier League spotlight.

Forest, however, may be reluctant to sanction the move. The Ivorian has quickly established himself as a reliable figure in Steve Cooper’s squad, and his departure could leave a significant gap in the team’s structure. Much will depend on whether Forest receive assurances that a potential deal would benefit both the player and the club financially and strategically.

Interest in Sangaré is not limited to West Ham. Juventus, Rennes and Nice have also been monitoring his situation, highlighting the esteem in which he is held across Europe.

Juventus, in particular, are thought to view him as a long-term midfield solution, while the two French clubs are exploring options to add depth to their respective squads before the window shuts.

The competition underscores the possibility of further developments over the coming days as clubs seek to finalise their summer business.

For West Ham, landing Sangaré would represent both ambition and necessity. After their sluggish start to the season, the club’s hierarchy is eager to provide manager Julen Lopetegui with reinforcements capable of lifting the squad’s confidence and results. Sangaré’s robust playing style, combined with his experience in European competitions during his time at PSV, makes him an appealing option for a side looking to stabilise quickly.

The midfielder himself has yet to publicly comment on the speculation, but his career trajectory has been one of steady growth. From his early days in Ivory Coast to spells in France and the Netherlands, Sangaré has consistently developed into a well-rounded midfielder, known for his strong tackling, passing range, and composure under pressure.

As the transfer deadline approaches, the coming days are likely to determine whether West Ham can successfully negotiate terms with Nottingham Forest, or whether the player’s future lies elsewhere in Europe.

With multiple clubs circling and Forest weighing their options, Sangaré’s name could feature prominently in the final hours of the window.
