French Ligue 1 outfit Lille OSC are close to completing a deal to sign Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane.
According to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins, confirmed by Foot Mercato, the 22-year-old striker is expected to arrive in northern France on Thursday to undergo his medical before signing a three-year contract, with an option for an additional year.
Negotiations between the two clubs have been ongoing for weeks, with Lille initially reluctant to meet Rangers’ €15 million asking price. However, the deal is now set to go through for around €12 million.
Igamane’s arrival will provide much-needed support for veteran striker Olivier Giroud, who has been tasked with leading the line and played the full 90 minutes in Lille’s first two Ligue 1 matches.
While the 38-year-old has made a bright start to life back in France, the club has long recognised the need for reinforcements up front to sustain their campaign.
