Aston Villa considering move for Franco-Congolese forward Christopher Nkunku
Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for France international of DR Congo descent, Christopher Nkunku before the closure of the transfer window.
The Premier League club are aiming to bolster their attack before the summer transfer window shut in September, with Nkunku, who has struggled to cement his place at Chelsea emerging as a priority target.
According to reports, Aston Villa have already contacted Chelsea for the acquisition of Nkunku, with Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig also expressing interest in the Frenchman.
Villa are yet to score in two Premier League games and attacking depth may be necessary to give more help to the likes of Ollie Watkins. Unai Emery’s side drew 0-0 with a Newcastle United outfit without a recognized striker, while relegation-tipped Brentford won 1-0 on Saturday in another disappointing result for the Villans.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have ruled out any loan exit as the club seek for a permanent acquisition for a player whose contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2029.
Nkunku is reportedly open to a return to Germany, with RB Leipzig keen to bring him back. However, no serious talks have yet taken place with the Bundesliga club.
Last season, Christopher Nkunku made 48 appearances for Chelsea, netting 15 goals and providing 5 assists. He was mainly used as an impact substitute, injecting energy into the side and helping secure crucial results.
