Antonio Rudiger showed incredible strength and commitment for Real Madrid last season, carrying on even with a painful knee injury.

Reports from Diario AS reveal the German defender played despite a partial rupture of the meniscus in his left knee.

Rudiger refused to step aside and became one of the most reliable players in the squad. His determination saw him log more than 4,500 minutes, the most of any defender in LaLiga during the 2024-25 campaign. Across all players, only one man managed more time on the pitch, underlining just how vital Rudiger was in keeping Madrid’s backline steady.

In April 2025, after the club’s Copa del Rey final loss, the 31-year-old finally underwent surgery to repair the damage. The procedure was successful, but it marked the end of an unforgettable season in which he fought through pain for the badge.

Even with all his efforts, competition remains tough. Under coach Xabi Alonso, Rudiger has struggled for a regular starting place and could once again find himself on the bench when Madrid face Real Oviedo.
