No-Show Swedish-Eritrean forward Alexander Isak could be hit with fine at Newcastle United
Swedish-Eritrean attacker Alexander Isak is in trouble at Newcastle United after missing the club’s season opener against Aston Villa.
Isak has been pushing for a move away from Newcastle United in the current transfer window, with Liverpool expressing keen interest in the attacker.
Newcastle have been pushing for Isak to sign a new with an improved contract that would include a mandatory sale clause for next season. But Isak himself is firmly against this idea and has staged a real boycott against the club.
He was not available when Newcastle United shared the spoils with Aston Villa in Premier League opener on Saturday as he continue to push for a move this summer.
The Magpies plans to discipline Isak for breaching club rules. As stipulated in his contract, Isak is expected to receive a fine from the Premier League club.
Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for €70 million and has since played 109 matches, scoring 62 goals and providing 11 assists.
