Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira is rethinking his approach for Saturday’s Egyptian Premier League match against Arab Contractors, and Chico Banza’s place in the starting lineup is under serious review.
The Angolan forward featured in Zamalek’s 2-0 opening win over Ceramica Cleopatra, but his night ended on a sour note. Substituted in the 66th minute, Banza reacted angrily, voicing his frustration and heading straight to the bench without greeting the coaching staff or teammates.
According to Kooora, Banza was absent from the starting group during Tuesday’s training session. Ferreira is leaning toward placing him on the bench, though the final call will come closer to matchday.
Banza has since apologized to the technical staff for his actions, acknowledging the need to move past the incident. Even so, the club issued a financial fine in line with its regulations.
For now, Zamalek’s focus is on keeping momentum in the league while ensuring discipline and team unity remain at the heart of Ferreira’s plans.
