French Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice are pushing to sign France-born midfielder of Gambian descent, Mahdi Camara.
According to L’Équipe, Nice are keen to bolster their midfield this summer following their 2-0 home defeat to SL Benfica in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier. The performance reportedly highlighted the need for reinforcements, prompting the club to move quickly in the transfer market.
Les Aiglons have made Camara their top target and are working to finalise a deal, with Brest understood to be demanding around €8 million.
The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a departure this summer, attracting interest earlier in the window from clubs in the United States and Russia.
Camara joined Brest in 2022 from his boyhood club AS Saint-Étienne and has since become an integral part of the squad.
Last season, he featured in the UEFA Champions League for the first time, helping Les Pirates reach the playoff rounds before being eliminated by eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.
