Emam Ashour’s return to full action for Al Ahly looks set to take a little longer, with the midfielder unlikely to start Friday’s clash against FC Pharco in the Egyptian Premier League.
A source told Kooora that Emam Ashour has only just begun taking part in group training after completing a rehabilitation and muscle strengthening program following surgery for a broken collarbone. His involvement, if any, is expected to be from the bench as he continues to build match fitness.
“If Emam Ashour is present in the match, he will be on the bench, and it will be difficult for him to start from the start,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Marawan Attia will need another week to ten days before returning to training after hernia surgery. Right-back Mohamed Hany picked up a minor bruise in the win over Modern Sport but is fit for selection. Defender Yassin Marai is also set to be available despite slight fatigue, giving coach Marcel Koller more options for the upcoming game.
