Bafodé Diakité Faces Three-Month Absence Due to Shoulder Injury

France-born defender of Guinean descent, Bafodé Diakité, is set to undergo a medical examination today ahead of his move to AFC Bournemouth.

The transfer comes in the wake of Illia Zabarnyi’s imminent departure from Bournemouth to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ukrainian centre-back is expected to finalise a €63 million move to the French champions in the coming days, with €40 million of that fee earmarked to fund the acquisition of Diakité.

The 23-year-old has been a long-term target for the Cherries throughout the summer transfer window, and the deal is now in its final stages.

According to Le Parisien, Diakité’s medical is set to last the entire day, signalling the club’s intent to swiftly complete the signing.

Zabarnyi, meanwhile, remains in the UK but is expected to travel to Paris soon to sign a five-year contract with PSG, ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
