Ismaily announces appeal against FIFA rulings in Ben Khemassa and Morel cases

Cairo-based football club Ismaily SC has officially filed an appeal against the decisions handed down regarding former players Mohamed Ben Khemassa and Jean Morel.

The move follows the club’s earlier sanction by the international governing body, FIFA, after the duo’s departure from its ranks.

The Ismaily management successfully met the deadline by settling a sum of 54,000 Swiss francs, equivalent to 65,000 US dollars, as the appeal fee for the judgment favoring player Mohamed Ben Khemassa.

The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber ruled that Ismaily must pay a total of 1,722,000 USD, along with 270,000 Egyptian pounds, in fines to the player.

International attorney Alexander Rofnin submitted the appeal and accompanying documentation, affirming the club’s stance within the specified timelines.

In the preceding month, the club had already paid 34,000 Swiss francs, equal to 40,000 US dollars, in appeal fees related to the judgment favoring player Jean Morel.

In this case, Ismaily was directed to pay a sum of 858,000 USD.

Swiss attorney Rofnin has compiled the appeal memorandum and its annexes, temporarily concluding these two cases until a hearing is scheduled and a final verdict is issued, expected to favor Ismaily.

Mohamed Ben Khemassa joined Ismaily on a free transfer during the 2022-2021 season, participating in 8 matches without registering any goals or assists.

Jean Morel, during the 2021-2022 season, donned the Ismaily jersey in just 8 matches across all competitions.

Ismaily currently holds the 15th position with 8 points after completing 10 rounds in the Egyptian Premier League.
