In preparation for the upcoming Asian Cup, Jordan secured a 2-1 victory over Qatar in a friendly match held on Friday.
The goals for Jordan were netted by Yazan Al-Naimat and Ali Alwan, while Akram Afif scored the sole goal for Qatar in a game that wasn’t televised.
Qatar, the host nation of the Asian Cup, will kick off the tournament with the opening match against Lebanon on January 12, followed by encounters with Tajikistan and China in Group A.
Under the guidance of coach Marquez Lopez, who took over from Carlos Queiroz in early December, Qatar aims to defend the title they clinched for the first time in their history in 2019.
On the other hand, Jordan, led by Moroccan coach Hussein Amotta, will face Japan in a friendly on January 9 before embarking on their Asian Cup journey against Malaysia on January 15.
They will subsequently play against South Korea and Bahrain in Group C.
