The head coach of Algeria, Madjid Bougherra, raised concerns about fatigue on Friday after his team’s stalemate against South Africa at the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The coach set up his team to defeat South Africa on the matchday, but the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Madjid Bougherra said he is proud of his players for securing a point, but believes the team showed fatigue.
“The team showed some fatigue, but the most important thing is qualification. I am very proud of my players – they showed bravery and fought hard,” Madjid Bougherra said.
Despite the draw against South Africa, Algeria sits top of the Group C standings at the ongoing CHAN tournament.
The team is on course to advancing to the knockout stage of the tournament heading into the third group match against Guinea on August 15.
