Congolese forward Vicky Kiankaulua helps IMT Novi Belgrade secure first win of Serbian League season

Congolese forward Vicky Kiankaulua helps IMT Novi Belgrade secure first win of Serbian League season

IMT Novi Belgrade claimed their first victory of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Novi Pazar on matchday three of the Serbian SuperLiga, with Congolese striker Vicky Kiankaulua making his debut appearance late in the game.

The visitors left it late to seal the three points, grabbing the winning goal deep into stoppage time after a tightly contested encounter. Although Kiankaulua came on in the closing minutes, his introduction coincided with a crucial moment as the team pushed to maintain their slender lead and see out the result.

The match proved to be a stern test for IMT Novi Belgrade, who had to battle against a determined Novi Pazar side eager to impress on home soil. With both teams pressing for a win, the game remained open and competitive until the final whistle. IMT’s persistence eventually paid off in the dying moments, allowing them to celebrate their first success of the new campaign.

Prior to this match, IMT Novi Belgrade had endured a difficult start to the season, having opened with a draw and a defeat in their first two fixtures. The away win now lifts them to seventh in the league standings with four points, injecting much-needed momentum into their campaign.

For Kiankaulua, who joined the Serbian outfit in the current transfer window, the match marked a modest but important start to life at his new club. Although his time on the pitch was brief, it allowed him to integrate with his teammates in a competitive setting as he begins to build his role within the squad.

The win also boosts the squad’s morale as they look ahead to their next fixture against Zeleznicar Pancevo, scheduled for Monday, August 11. That match will take place at the Voždovac Stadium in Belgrade, where IMT will aim to capitalise on home advantage in front of an expected crowd of 5,000 supporters.

IMT’s coaching staff will take confidence from the performance, particularly the team’s resilience and determination to push for a late winner. While the display was not without challenges—especially given the pressure applied by Novi Pazar—there was a marked improvement in composure and focus compared to earlier outings.

The inclusion of Kiankaulua adds further depth to the attacking options for IMT Novi Belgrade. As the Congolese forward settles into Serbian football, the club will hope to see him grow into a key contributor in the matches ahead.

With their first victory now secured, IMT Novi Belgrade will be keen to build on this momentum and continue their ascent in the standings. The upcoming home clash provides an opportunity to consolidate their position and demonstrate that the win in Novi Pazar was the start of a more consistent run of form.
