Highly-rated Moroccan youngster Abdellah Ouazane has signed a new long-term contract with Dutch giants Ajax, extending his stay at the club until June 30, 2028.

The 16-year-old attacking midfielder put pen to paper despite reported interest from Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid.

His decision marks a major coup for Ajax as they continue to secure the brightest talents emerging from their academy.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been able to sign Abdellah today,” said Ajax Director of Football Marijn Beuker.

“He is a creative attacking midfielder who plays a key role in both scoring goals and providing assists. Abdellah has excellent vision, and I’m confident he will also showcase his qualities at Ajax U23 this season.”

Ouazane, born in Amsterdam on January 15, 2009, began his football journey at AVV Zeeburgia before joining the Ajax academy in 2016.

He has steadily risen through the youth ranks and is now set to feature for Jong Ajax, the club’s U23 side, in the 2025/26 campaign.

Internationally, Ouazane chose to represent Morocco over the Netherlands and has already made a significant impact. He was named Player of the Tournament at the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, where he played a key role in Morocco’s title-winning run.

He also represented the North African nation at both the 2023 U-17 AFCON and the U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
