Liverpool is taking strong steps to keep Ibrahima Konate at Anfield by offering the defender an improved contract, according to reports from Foot Mercato.
The 26-year-old defender has become a key part of the Reds’ backline, and with his current deal running out in June 2026, the club is eager to extend his stay before things get complicated.
“My assessment: The chance that Ibrahima Konate will join Real Madrid in the summer of 2025 is 15%,” explained transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Real Madrid have shown interest in the centre-back but are reportedly unwilling to meet Liverpool’s €50 million price tag, offering between €20–25 million instead.
While the Spanish giants see Konate as a future piece of their defense, Liverpool want to avoid any risk of losing him, especially on a free transfer.
The new contract offer is said to reflect Konate’s value and importance to the team, as Liverpool aim to show their belief in him — not just with words, but with commitment.
His response may shape the Reds’ long-term defensive plans.
