Mohamed Shokry embraces Al Ahly return and brushes off Ali Maaloul comparison talk
Mohamed Shokry says he’s ready to make his mark at Al Ahly after rejoining the Egyptian giants this summer.
The confident left-back believes the timing of his return couldn’t be better as the team gears up for a fresh chapter.
“Thank God, my return to Al-Ahly came at the perfect time. I’m returning home, and God willing, I’ll be able to prove myself in the coming period and become a key player,” he said in a radio interview.
Shokry revealed that discussions with Al Ahly started a month ago through his agent, Ahmed Yahya, but he chose to focus fully on Ceramica Cleopatra until the deal was finalized. He looks back at his time with Cleopatra with pride, calling it a “significant stage” in his football journey.
“I learned a lot, gained valuable experience, and won three championships during that period,” he noted.
As for comparisons to fan-favorite Ali Maaloul, Shokry remains unfazed: “Every player has their own style, and Maaloul has created a great history with Al Ahly, and I hope to follow in his footsteps and achieve similar accomplishments.”
He also congratulated Pyramids on their CAF Champions League win.
