Egyptian FA moves to expand talent pool with dual national players
In a strategic step to strengthen its national team, the Egyptian Football Association has approved a new strategy to recruit players with dual nationality.
The move is part of a wider plan to tap into Egyptian talent competing abroad and broaden the country’s player base.
The board of directors, led by Hany Abo Rida, reached the decision on Monday and immediately formed a dedicated committee for the project. Abo Rida will chair the group, which includes key board members Mohamed Abu Hussein, Tarek Abu Al-Enein, and Mohamed Al-Sherbiny. The committee will also feature technical and administrative figures such as Alaa Nabil, Essam Serag El-Din, Shaaban Bastawy, Ahmed Ehab, Wassim Ahmed, Hesham Atta, Ahmed Shaalan, and Mohamed Shaaban.
The committee’s core responsibilities include regularly scouting and tracking dual-national players abroad, maintaining an up-to-date database, and opening formal lines of communication with them.
The goal is to attract these talents to represent Egypt, align them with the national team’s technical plans, and ensure Egypt remains competitive on the international stage by relying on top-tier players.
