2024 WAFCON: Nigeria and Algeria set for a high-stake Group B clash

In a highly competitive clash on Sunday, the Super Falcons of Nigeria will lock horns with Algeria in the third and final matchday of Group B of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The blockbuster clash between Nigeria and Algeria has been scheduled to take place at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, with both teams yearning for maximum points.

The West African powerhouse will be hoping to beat their Algerian counterparts to finish strong and top Group B.

For the North African side, they will approach the match with all seriousness knowing very well that, a win against Nigeria would earn them the top spot in their group.

Nigeria are on top of their group, accumulating six points from the initial two matches while Algeria sit second spot with four points.

The Super Falcons defeated both Tunisia and Botswana while Algeria shared spoiled with Tunisia and secure victory over Botswana.

Nigeria’s Coach Justine Madugu plans some strategic rotation. He will provide rest for key players like Deborah Abiodun and Asisat Oshoala, to test depth ahead of a potential meeting with hosts Morocco or Zambia.

Meanwhile, under French coach Farid Benstiti, Les Vertes believe in their growing cohesion and tactical discipline, with Marine Dafeur speaking of her team’s readiness to “give Nigeria a real fight.”
