Newly promoted Turkish Super Lig club Gençlerbirliği has reportedly made an offer to sign Hakim Ziyech.
The 32-year-old midfielder was released by Galatasaray in January and struggled to find his footing during a brief spell with Qatar’s Al-Duhail, where he was also let go within six months.
According to reports from Turkey, tax issues may complicate any potential deal for Ziyech.
The Moroccan international has firmly stated he has no desire to return to play in the Arabian Gulf region.
Following his disappointing stint in Qatar, the former Ajax and Chelsea playmaker is focused on revitalizing his career in Europe—preferably with a club that can guarantee regular playing time ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to be hosted on home soil next December.
Al Mountakhab reports that Ziyech has rejected three lucrative offers from Gulf clubs and is currently engaged in advanced negotiations with Serie A side Fiorentina.
Despite a career hampered by injuries and inconsistency since leaving Ajax, Ziyech is keen to return either to the Netherlands or another top European league in hopes of rediscovering his best form—and potentially reclaiming his place with the Moroccan national team, the Atlas Lions.
