FC Nantes has secured its second significant reinforcement. Following the acquisition of Tino Kadewere, the Canaries have officially welcomed Ivorian striker Bénie Traoré, 21, from Sheffield United, announcing a loan deal with an option to purchase.
Traoré, who boasts 9 total club competition appearances, including 3 as a starter but yet to find the net, embraces a new challenge as he steps into the Ligue 1 Uber Eats arena.
In a press release by FC Nantes, the club expressed enthusiasm for the addition of Traoré to their roster.
The Ivorian U23 neo-international, having earned his stripes in March 2023, is set to wear the iconic number 77 jersey, standing alongside fellow newcomer Junior Diaz.
In a statement to FCN’s official media, Traoré articulated his pride in joining Nantes, a club embedded in his early memories.
“I am very proud to be from Nantes! It’s a club that I’ve known since I was little. I’m really happy to be here. Wearing this jersey and discovering Ligue 1 is a challenge for me.
I can’t wait to start in my new colors and show my qualities to help the team. La Beaujoire? I saw it on TV, and I can’t wait!” he declared with eagerness.
This marks an active commencement to FC Nantes’ winter transfer window, reflecting a strategic approach under the leadership of coach Jocelyn Gourvennec.
Currently positioned just four points away from the relegation zone after 17 competitive fixtures, the Canaries aim to leverage their new acquisitions for an impactful resurgence in the second part of the season.
