Djamel Belmadi Dismissed as Qatar National Team Coach
Djamel Belmadi‘s tenure as Qatar’s national football team head coach has come to an end. The Algerian coach, who took charge of the Gulf state’s national team in March 2014, has been dismissed by the Qatari Football Association (QFA) after failing to reach an agreement on a contract extension.
Belmadi, whose original mission was to guide Qatar through the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, leaves Qatar prematurely, as he did not complete his full contract. Despite the expectations of qualification, Belmadi’s exit follows a disagreement over terms with the QFA, which led to his departure from the post.
This marks a significant shift for Qatar as they now seek a new coach to help revive their fortunes and prepare for future competitions.
