Sofiane Feghouli Advises PSG to Overcome Barça

Sofiane Feghouli Offers Advice for PSG Ahead of Champions League Clash with Barcelona

Ahead of the highly anticipated Champions League quarter-final return leg between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and FC Barcelona, Sofiane Feghouli has shared valuable insights on how PSG might approach the game to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg.

Feghouli, who recently faced Barcelona with Valencia FC in La Liga, gave a detailed breakdown of how to effectively counter the attacking prowess of the Catalan giants. In the match between Valencia and Barcelona, Luis Suárez gave the Blaugranas an early lead, but Valencia held their ground before Lionel Messi sealed the win late on. Despite the defeat, Feghouli’s comments pointed to key tactics that could help PSG in their quest for a comeback at the Camp Nou on Tuesday.

Feghouli noted that Barcelona often struggles when teams adopt a more aggressive and high-pressing strategy: “Generally, teams all group up at the back and close down the game. We opted for the solution of going after them. It worked out quite well for us. We didn’t let them come out.” He suggested that PSG should adopt a similar approach, urging the French side to press high, not let Barcelona build their attack, and force the game.

Feghouli also emphasized the importance of ball possession and quick transitions: “When we have the ball, we have to use it well. With the score of the first leg (3-1), there is nothing left to lose for Paris. We have to go all out and attack.” Given the high stakes and PSG’s deficit, he believes the French side should take the initiative, moving the ball quickly and creating chances to break down Barcelona’s defense.

Finally, Feghouli noted that PSG’s attacking players have the ability to exploit Barcelona’s defensive frailties: “At the back, it’s possible to get past them one-on-one. Paris can hurt them.”

With PSG needing at least two goals to force extra time, Feghouli’s words could serve as a crucial reminder for Unai Emery’s side to remain bold, assertive, and proactive in their pursuit of a Champions League semi-final spot.
