Strasbourg have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Franco-Malian defender Soumaïla Coulibaly in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old talented centre-back is expected to sign a five-year direct contract with Strasbourg to career his career in the French country. Meanwhile, Coulibaly will not be loaned to fellow BlueCo outfit, Chelsea this summer.
With both clubs agreeing a transfer worth €7.5m, the player is set to travel to the Alsace region shortly to complete a medical before putting pen to paper.
The FC Montfermeil youth player returns to French football for the first time since leaving the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy before his move to Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
Coulibaly made 25 appearances for Dortmund’s second team before making his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League in November 2022 followed by another solitary league outing in April 2023.
The defender was then loaned out to Stade Brestois last season for what was a memorable UEFA Champions League campaign which saw Les Pirates qualify for the round of 16 in their maiden European outing. The Frenchman made 16 appearances for Brest last season in all competitions.
