DRC Leopards Suffer Second Defeat to Iraq in Training Camp
The DRC Leopards were unable to secure a victory in their second friendly match against Iraq during their training camp in Dubai, suffering a 1-0 defeat. This followed a 2-1 loss to the same opponents last Saturday.
Despite making changes to the starting lineup, including the inclusion of Yannick Bolasie and Jöel Kimwaki, the Leopards struggled to break down Iraq’s defense. The decisive moment came in the 60th minute when Yaser Kasim broke through the Congolese defense and struck the ball into the top corner, giving Iraq the lead.
Joël Kiassumbua, the DRC goalkeeper, made an important save in the 70th minute, denying Iraq a second goal, assisted by a defender. Despite some resilience, the Leopards couldn’t find an equalizer, and the match ended in defeat.
The two losses to Iraq serve as important learning opportunities for the Leopards as they continue preparations under coach Florent Ibenge.
