The Burkinabè National Lottery (LONAB) has demonstrated its commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen by reaffirming its support for the national football team, the Stallions, following their impressive performance in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). In recognition of the team’s success, LONAB has provided a financial package of 50 million CFA francs to the Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF). This contribution is aimed at assisting the FBF in its mission to develop football within the country.
Amélie Tamboura/Sawadogo, the director of LONAB, expressed her desire to contribute to the advancement of national football and emphasized the exceptional performance of the Burkinabè national team during CAN 2013, particularly their significant victory against Niger.
The Stallions, in turn, share the aspiration of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Despite being 6 points behind the leader of Group E (Congo), Burkina Faso sees this support from LONAB as crucial in pursuing their ambitions for World Cup qualification.
Sita Sangaré, the president of the FBF, acknowledged LONAB’s ongoing support, highlighting that this is not the first time the lottery company has backed the national football federation. In the previous year, LONAB’s support had facilitated the organization of the national championship, showcasing the company’s commitment to the development of football in Burkina Faso.
