Sadio Mané Joins Senegal Camp Ahead of 2015 AFCON
Senegal’s national team has finally reached full strength with the arrival of Sadio Mané on Sunday, just days before the kickoff of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. The Southampton winger, released by his English club, joined his teammates in training and is currently under close medical supervision.
Despite concerns surrounding his injury, Mané took part in individual training with the team physio, raising hopes about his availability for Senegal’s opening match against Ghana. However, a final decision is expected on Friday.
“It’s encouraging after seeing him train with his physio. But it’s this Friday that we’ll confirm whether he’ll be able to play the first match or not. Still, he’s progressing at the moment,” said a member of the Lions’ medical staff.
Meanwhile, Senegal will play a second friendly match this afternoon against Guinea at the Wydad training center in Casablanca, as part of their final preparations.
Senegal is placed in Group C, widely considered the “Group of Death,” alongside Ghana, Algeria, and South Africa.
