Zambia’s 23-Man Squad for AFCON 2015 Revealed
On the final day to submit official squads, Zambia has unveiled its 23-man list for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Equatorial Guinea from January 17 to February 8. Head coach Honour Janza delayed the announcement until Wednesday, taking full advantage of the deadline.
The Chipolopolo will be led by Rainford Kalaba, one of only eight survivors from Zambia’s historic 2012 AFCON-winning team. The absence of veteran Christopher Katongo signals a new era, with Janza injecting fresh blood into the squad while retaining experienced names.
Three players from South Africa’s PSL have made the cut: Kennedy Mweene, Mukuka Mulenga, and Davies Nkausu.
Zambia, eliminated in the group stage in 2013, will compete in a challenging Group B alongside Tunisia, Cape Verde, and DR Congo.
