Bordeaux: Lamine Sané Embraces Willy Sagnol’s Attacking Philosophy
Since the arrival of Willy Sagnol at Girondins de Bordeaux for the 2014-2015 season, the team has undergone a clear tactical shift. Replacing Francis Gillot, the former France U21 coach has implemented a more attacking and risk-taking style of play.
While this approach has led to Bordeaux conceding more goals, it has also brought a more dynamic and attractive style—something that Lamine Sané, the club’s Senegalese defender, fully supports.
“We’ve changed our playing philosophy, our mindset, we’re taking risks. It’s completely normal, I prefer this Bordeaux to the one before. We’re exposing ourselves a lot but we’re creating beautiful play,”
said Sané to Webgirondins.com.
Despite the defensive vulnerability, Sané seems to welcome the positive, ambitious football, appreciating the renewed energy and excitement brought by Sagnol’s tenure.
