Benjamin Angoua Suffers Broken Nose in Breton Derby Loss
Ivorian defender Benjamin Angoua of En Avant Guingamp was left with a broken nose after a clash with Stade Rennais striker Ola Toivonen during Saturday’s tense Breton derby.
The match, which saw Rennes claim a 1-0 victory over Guingamp, was physically intense, and the incident occurred in the first half when Toivonen delivered a knee blow to Angoua. The impact left the 31-year-old with a fractured nose, although it was not immediately clear whether the injury would require surgery.
Guingamp coach Jocelyn Gourvennec confirmed the injury, stating, “It’s not a move, but it’s broken,” referring to the unfortunate collision. Despite the setback, Angoua’s resilience will be key as he recovers from the injury.
