Everton Set to Extend Samuel Eto’o’s Contract After Impressive Start
Just a few months after arriving at Everton, Samuel Eto’o has made a strong impression — enough for the club’s management to reportedly consider extending his contract.
The 33-year-old Cameroonian striker, who joined the Toffees as a free agent following a brief spell at Chelsea, signed an initial deal that runs until June 30, 2016. However, according to club sources, Everton is prepared to offer him a two-year extension, which would keep him at Goodison Park until June 2018.
Eto’o, a former captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, has brought not only experience and pedigree to the Everton squad but also crucial goals and leadership. His performances have helped ease the pressure on Romelu Lukaku and provided valuable depth to Roberto Martínez’s attacking options.
If the extension goes through, it will mark yet another chapter in an illustrious career for Eto’o, who has already starred for top European clubs including Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea.
