Barcelona are closing in on one of their key summer targets, with Nico Williams reportedly agreeing to personal terms, according to transfer expert Nicolo Schira.
The Athletic Club winger, 22, has been on Barcelona’s radar for months, and this agreement brings them a step closer to sealing the deal. Though the Catalans have yet to trigger his €58 million release clause, removing the hurdle of personal terms gives them an edge.
Williams is contracted to Athletic until 2027, but sources say he is eager to join Hansi Flick’s project at Camp Nou. The Spanish-Ghanaian winger is reportedly keen on linking up with rising star Lamine Yamal, making Barcelona his preferred destination ahead of Bayern Munich and Arsenal.
Sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta are said to be cautiously optimistic.
Should the deal be completed, Williams would be one of the marquee additions this summer as Barcelona aim to reload with youthful, top-tier talent.
The club’s pursuit now enters a crucial phase.
