Stade Malien Clinches Malian Championship Title with Victory Over Onze Créateur
Stade Malien secured their seventh Malian football championship in the last decade after a 1-0 win against Onze Créateur on the final day of the 2013-2014 season.
The Bamako-based club entered the match needing just one point to confirm their title. With the victory on Thursday, September 18, Stade Malien ended the season with 67 points, five ahead of runners-up Club Olympique de Bamako, who lost 1-0 to AS Bakaridjan.
Over the course of the season, Stade Malien registered an impressive record of 20 wins, 7 draws, and just 3 defeats. Their strong defense conceded only 9 goals in 30 matches—an average of just 0.3 goals per game—while their attack scored 42 goals.
The season, which ran from November 2013 to September 2014, also saw Office Niger Ségou, Débo Club Mopti, and Elewidj FC Kidal relegated to the second division.
Stade Malien’s continued domestic dominance highlights their position as one of Mali’s leading football clubs, with Djoliba holding the remaining three titles in the last ten years.
