Kenyan star Boniface Muchiri has praised Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy for his impressive leadership since taking over the national team.
The South Africa legend joined the Harambee Stars in March this year, tasked with improving the team and guiding them to qualify for major international tournaments.
Since his appointment, McCarthy has overseen two matches in charge of Kenya, securing a draw against Gambia and suffering a narrow defeat to Gabon during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in March.
Ahead of two international friendlies against Chad set to take place in Morocco, Muchiri, who has been named in the squad for the games, has praised McCarthy’s leadership, emphasizing the fresh energy he has brought to the squad.
“Benni is more than a coach. He is a father figure. He is like a brother and has given a lot of freedom to the players,” Muchiri told FKF Media, per Mozzart Sport.
“Everybody is willing and ready to give their best for the country, and mine is to encourage my teammates to use their strengths and take risks so that they can show their quality and help the team to get positive results.
“Given the opportunity, I will give 100% for my country and to help my teammates and the young ones that are coming up,” he added.
Despite the slow start, the 47-year-old tactician, who spent two seasons with English Premier League giants Manchester United as a striker coach, has been receiving growing support and praise since his arrival in Kenya, from fans, legends, and players.
