During the last winter transfer window, Alaixys Romao made the move from Lorient to OM. The Togolese midfielder is working hard to establish himself within the Marseille club and make a significant contribution during the crucial phase of the season.
Having recently returned from a match with the Eperviers for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Romao shared his thoughts on the official OM website. Before heading to the OGC Nice pitch, he reflected on his relationship with Elie Baup and discussed Marseille’s challenging performance against Ajaccio.
“I strive to satisfy him every day in both training and matches. He has asked me to play in a manner consistent with what I did in Lorient. However, the approach is different here. The coach emphasizes the importance of attack/defense transitions. I appreciate the tactical significance in this aspect. We need to be flawless at this level, especially as our opponents, particularly at home, tend to close down the game. Unfortunately, against Ajaccio, we struggled to find the breakthrough. Perhaps a bit more patience is required. Rushing often leads to missing the final pass. It’s challenging because we want to play, but our opponents stick to their game plan and sometimes settle for a draw.”
