Congo Faces Rwanda Without Key Players in CAN 2015 Qualifier Return Leg
Claude Leroy will have to make do without several of his key men as Congo prepares for a decisive return leg against Rwanda in Kigali, part of the final qualifying round for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The French coach has confirmed that Prince Oniangué, Ladislas Douniama, Francis Ganga, and Igor Nganga will miss the trip. Some of the absences are due to suspensions, while others result from players staying with their clubs for pre-season preparations.
Despite these setbacks, Congo holds a comfortable 2-0 lead from the first leg. Leroy’s squad can secure qualification to the group stage even with a draw or a narrow loss by one goal in Kigali.
A favorable result would see Congo placed in Group A, where they would face Nigeria, South Africa, and Sudan in the main qualifying phase. Leroy will be counting on his remaining squad to finish the job and continue Congo’s road to AFCON 2015.
