Yaya Banana Leaves Sochaux for Greek Side Platanias
Cameroonian defender Yaya Banana has officially parted ways with FC Sochaux. The 23-year-old, who arrived at the French club in January 2012, terminated his contract—originally set to run until June 2016—by mutual consent.
Banana has now signed a three-year deal with Greek Super League club Platanias. While the duration of the contract is confirmed, the transfer fee remains undisclosed.
During the 2012–2013 season, Banana made 26 appearances for Sochaux before being loaned out to Swiss side Lausanne-Sport. Though versatile—capable of playing both as a centre-back and a defensive midfielder—he had struggled to cement a consistent starting role in recent seasons.
Platanias, who finished 14th in the Greek league last season, will be hoping Banana brings much-needed stability and experience to their defense as they aim to climb the table.
