Henri Saivet to Miss Start of Ligue 1 Season with Knee Injury
Bordeaux midfielder Henri Saivet will be sidelined for the opening weeks of the new Ligue 1 campaign, the club confirmed on Tuesday. Saivet is currently suffering from knee pain and is expected to be out for approximately four weeks.
This setback is a blow for the Girondins, who are already grappling with injuries to key players Jussié and Pellenard. Senegal national team coach Alain Giresse will also be concerned, as Saivet’s absence comes ahead of the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin in early September.
On a brighter note, Bordeaux coach Willy Sagnol can welcome back defenders Lamine Sané and striker Cheick Diabaté, both now fit and available for training.
