CAS blocks urgent request from Pyramids over Zamalek-Al Ahly clash
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed Pyramids FC’s urgent request to overturn the Egyptian League’s decision on the controversial Zamalek-Al Ahly match held on 11 March.
CAS ruled that the matter did not warrant emergency intervention, meaning the original ruling by the Professional Clubs Association (PCA) remains in place, at least for now.
Earlier, the Egyptian Football Association’s (EFA) appeals committee backed the PCA’s decision to award a 3-0 win to Zamalek, declaring Al Ahly as forfeiting the match. However, the committee also cancelled a proposed three-point deduction from Al Ahly’s tally.
Despite the setback, CAS confirmed it will proceed with a full hearing under regular procedures. A final verdict is expected before the final round of the league on Wednesday, keeping the title race wide open and tensions high.
Pyramids are hoping for a late turnaround in their favour, which could shake up the standings and bring fresh drama to a heated season finale.
