South Africa are yet to receive their prize money following their success at the recently concluded U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.

The Amajitas secured their first U20 AFCON title last Saturday after inflicting a narrow win over Morocco in the final. Gomolemo Kekana’s second-half rocket goal against Morocco was enough to secure South Africa a historic trophy.

South Africa are entitled to 3.6 million rand for lifting the just ended Africa Cup of Nations title in the North Africa country.

But according to the president of the South African Football Association Danny Jordan, the side has yet to receive their prize money from the continental football governing body (CAF).

“We have not yet received the money from CAF, and when we do, we will decide how to distribute it. One thing we know—and you know—is that South African football has not missed a single international match. We are fulfilling our commitments; we are even playing in (African Nations Championship).

In the past, we did not participate in CHAN. Now we compete in all tournaments organized by both CAF and FIFA, which means flights, accommodation, daily allowances, and everything else. And we are meeting our obligations,” Jordaan stated.
