Guirassy escapes fine after explaining Snapchat post featuring song with Hitler lyrics

Serhou Guirassy

Borussia Dortmund forward Serhou Guirassy was summoned by club officials to clarify a controversial social media post that featured a song containing lyrics praising Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime.

The Guinean striker, recently signed from VfB Stuttgart, had shared a video on Snapchat in which a track from Ye’s new album played in the background.

The song, which has drawn widespread condemnation for its references to Hitler, was already facing bans from several platforms prior to its release.

According to reports by German outlet Bild, the post quickly triggered public criticism in Germany, prompting Dortmund to seek immediate clarification.

Club executives engaged Guirassy in a call to address the incident, demanding an explanation for the choice of audio.

Despite the seriousness of the issue, Guirassy will not be fined by the club. He reportedly told officials that Snapchat had suggested the song automatically, and that he had selected it without understanding its lyrics or context.

Guirassy is one of several African players making headlines in the Bundesliga, and the episode has sparked broader conversations around the responsibilities of public figures on social media.
