South Africa defender Mothobi Mvala inks contract extension with Mamelodi Sundowns

South African defender Mothobi Mvala has extend his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns, keeping him at the club until 2026.

Mvala, whose contract was due to expire in June 2025, will now remain at the Brazilians for a further year after triggered the extension clause in his contract.

The 30-year-old center-back, who recently made his return from injury as a substitute in Sundowns’ match against Magesi FC, is set to play a pivotal role in the team’s upcoming clash against Pyramids FC.

Since joining the Brazilians in 2020 on an initial five-year deal, Mvala has been a consistent performer, amassing 119 appearances, 7 goals, and 4 assists across all competitions.

His leadership and defensive solidity have been key to Sundowns’ dominance in the South African Premiership.

With this extension, the club signals its trust in Mvala’s experience as they aim for more silverware in domestic and continental competitions.
