South African outfit Orlando Pirates are in danger of losing influential forward Monnapule Saleng in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old forward, who joined Orlando Pirates in 2021 has yet to sign a new deal with the club, with his current contract set to expire.
As revealed earlier by AfricaSoccer.com, contract renewal talks between both parties has stalled due to the player’s salary demands, which Pirates have yet to accept.
Saleng has not make any appearance for the Soweto giants in 2025, sparking controversies about his future at the club. His last appearance for Pirates was back in December 2024.
The highly-rated attacker has only rack up 13 appearances across competitions this season for Pirates, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
With former Pirates coach Jose Riveiro closing in a move to Al Ahly, the enterprising forward has been linked with a move to the Egyptian giants.
AfricaSoccer.com has gathered that Saleng could reunite with Riveiro at Al Ahly should the Spanish gaffer joins the Egyptian powerhouse.
Talks about a possible switch of Saleng to Al Ahly is gaining momentum in Egypt as negotiations between Al Ahly and Riveiro for the coach job continues.
While the coach hasn’t ruled out such a move, he emphasized that he is not yet directly involved in the transfer policy of his prospective club.
So, while Saleng’s transfer has not yet been confirmed, his connection with Riveiro and Al Ahly’s reported interest continue to fuel speculation about a possible move.
