Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa Not Heading to Bordeaux Due to Cost
Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has denied reports linking the club with a move for Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa. Despite previous rumors, Triaud told Sud-Ouest that the Franco-Central African international is “far too expensive in salary” for Bordeaux to afford.
Yanga-Mbiwa, who is under contract with Newcastle until 2018, is reportedly seeking more playing time and is open to a move. A loan deal could be a possible compromise, but for now, Bordeaux lacks the financial means to secure the defender’s services.
